Why Learn Computers

In 2026, computer literacy is not optional — it is your most important skill.

Every job application, every business transaction, every government form, every opportunity — it all runs on a computer. People who cannot operate one confidently are quietly locked out of the modern economy every single day. This course opens that door, permanently, in just three months.

Verified Expert
Lead Instructor
Femi
Computer Literacy Trainer & IT Specialist

Most people who teach computers teach them to people who already understand computers. Femi chose the harder, more important path. For over nine years, he has made it his life's work to teach the absolute beginners — the people who apologise before asking a question, who believe technology is too complicated for them, who have watched the digital world pass them by and quietly given up. Femi exists to prove every single one of them wrong.

What makes Femi exceptional as a trainer is not just what she knows — it's how recently she lived it. She remembers exactly what it felt like to apply for her first remote client on Upwork, to write a cold pitch email with her heart in her throat, to figure out Notion and Trello at midnight before a 7am deadline. That lived experience gives her teaching a precision and empathy that no textbook can replicate. She teaches what works because she is still doing it.

His career spans corporate staff training, secondary school educator programmes, civil service digital literacy initiatives, and community outreach across Akwa Ibom. He has personally trained over 300 Nigerians — from NYSC corps members preparing for office jobs, to retirees who wanted to send their first email, to market traders who needed to manage their records digitally, to job seekers who kept failing interviews because they had never typed a professional letter. Femi met every single one of them where they were — and moved them forward.

What sets Femi apart is not just his depth of knowledge — it is his extraordinary patience and the rare ability to make the unfamiliar feel like common sense. He reads every room, slows down exactly when it matters, and creates a space so safe that students stop being afraid to try. By the end of his three months, the people who walked in not knowing how to turn on a computer are independently writing documents, building spreadsheets, navigating the internet, and managing email — doing it all with confidence they will carry for the rest of their lives.

Curriculum

From switching it on to running your own work.

Six modules that build your confidence step by step — starting with what a computer is, ending with you producing professional documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and emails without asking anyone for help.

Understand what a computer actually is — the different parts, what they do, and how they work together. Learn to switch on, navigate, and shut down safely. Understand storage (hard drive, USB, cloud), connect accessories, and develop a confident, fearless relationship with the machine from Day 1.
Navigate Windows like a professional — the desktop, taskbar, Start menu, File Explorer, and Settings. Learn to create, organise, rename, copy, move, and delete files and folders. Install and uninstall applications, manage the Recycle Bin, and customise your workspace for maximum productivity.
Type, format, and produce professional documents from scratch — letters, reports, CVs, application letters, and business correspondence. Learn font styling, paragraph alignment, page layout, tables, headers and footers, and how to save, print, and share documents in multiple formats.
Build and manage spreadsheets for budgets, records, inventory, and business accounts. Learn cell navigation, data entry, basic formulas (SUM, AVERAGE, IF), cell formatting, and simple charts. Perfect for business owners, office staff, and anyone managing numbers in their daily work.
Navigate the internet confidently and safely. Create and manage a professional email address, compose and reply to formal emails, attach documents, and manage your inbox. Learn Google Search, use Google Drive for cloud storage, and understand digital safety — passwords, phishing, and protecting yourself online.
Create professional slide presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint — slides, layouts, transitions, and images. Learn to print documents and manage a printer. Complete a final practical assessment demonstrating independent competence across all tools — your proof of skill, delivered in person and on paper.

Common questions

Not at all. If you can use a smartphone or send a basic email, you have enough to start. The course begins with workspace setup and tool fundamentals before progressing to advanced client workflows. Femi teaches everything from scratch, in plain language with no assumptions.
You'll graduate proficient in Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets), Notion, Trello, Asana, Canva, Buffer, Later, Mailchimp, Calendly, and Zoom — the exact stack used by VAs working for international clients on platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, and direct contracts.
Yes — and many of Femi's students have done exactly that. The final module is dedicated entirely to client acquisition, pitch writing, rate setting, and onboarding. You graduate with a working Upwork profile, a portfolio, and a cold outreach system. The tools and roadmap will be in your hands on Day 1 of graduation.
A laptop is strongly recommended for the best learning experience, since VAs work primarily on computers. If you do not yet have one, reach out to us before enrolling — training is held at the Netisens ICT Hub in Uyo where lab computers are available for use during class sessions.
Upon completing the course and final practical assessment, you receive a Netisens ICT Certificate in Computer Literacy — recognised by employers for entry-level and administrative roles and accepted as proof of digital competence across public and private sector workplaces.
Fill out the application form above. Your details go directly to our team via WhatsApp for instant confirmation. You can also email us at info@netisens.com. The May–June cohort has limited seats, so early applications are encouraged.
